After the shortest chapter in Fortnite’s history, which lasted just one year, Chapter 4 marks a new path in the game’s evolution. Fortnite Chapter 4 features a brand new map, new Fortnite weapons, a new Battle Pass and other exciting details that we’ll cover in this article!
The new Game Island
The most obvious change in Chapter 4 is the new map. The map has a corner for the snowy foothills of the mountains, as well as a forest with autumnal hues. There are also large areas of farmland. All these areas hold many secrets that players will have to discover.
New Battle Pass
Each new season comes with a new Battle Pass. Chapter 4 of Battle Pass features an updated UI (User Interface) and a new progression system. Players could unlock various skins earlier in the game, they will now have to reach the appropriate level to unlock the in-game cosmetics they want.
The new Crossover Skins
The trailer for Chapter 4 was the most likely to get fans talking about the new characters. We will eventually see all these character skins in the game itself, but at the moment it’s not clear when that might be. Some of the characters are particularly interesting:
- Doom Slayer (Doom)
- Geralt of Rivia (The Witcher)
- Hulk (Marvel)
- Mr. Beast (YouTube)
- Deku (My Hero Academia)
New vehicle
Despite the medieval aesthetic of the map, vehicles are making a comeback this season, and among them is a newcomer – the dirt bike. There are also points awarded for doing tricks on the bike, so get out there!
New weapons
Chapter 4 introduces enough new weapons. Two of the most notable are the Ex-Caliber Rifle and the Shockwave Hammer. The full list of new weapons is as follows:
- Ex-Caliber Rifle
- Red Eye Assault Rifle
- Shockwave Hammer
- Tactical Pistol
- Twin Mag SMG
- Maven Auto Shotgun
- Thunder Shotgun
Some weapons from the previous chapter have also been retained:
- DMR
- Assault Rifle
- Machine SMG
- Mechanical Shockwave Bow
- Mechanical Explosive Bow
- Primal Stink Bow
- Primal Flame Bow
Other extensions
Fortnite introduces a power-up system that gives players powerful, randomly selected advantages every few minutes while they’re alive. For example, add-ons can create certain weapons, give unlimited fuel to vehicles or allow the renewal of certain types of ammunition.
The Ageless
Citadele, one of 4. In the new locations section, there’s a big castle tower with a new boss – Ageless, who has both powerful weapons and good fighting techniques!
Graphical improvements
The biggest changes for the new season, however, are evident in the fixtures. Fortnite chapter 4 is working on Unreal Engine 5.1. If you run the game on a platform that can run(Nanite, Lumen, Virtual Shadow Maps, or Temporal Super Resolution), the difference is immediately noticeable.
Yeah, I'm totally sold on Lumen and Nanite. Shipping this in a 60 fps large scale multiplayer game…this is nuts. Just amazing work from the team at Epic. pic.twitter.com/VcxfsG2Rex
